What is a Directive Short Code?
For anyone who received a short codeA short code is a unique 6-character code (like ABC-2D4) that identifies a specific medical directive on bloodless.org. Someone may share their short code with you verbally, on a bracelet, or in writing.
How to use it
- Go to bloodless.org/d
- Enter the short code in the input field
- Tap Go to open the Emergency Card
When it’s useful
- Tell someone your code verbally over the phone
- Write it on a medical ID bracelet or card
- Include it in hospital paperwork
- A first responder can enter it on their phone
Other ways to access a directive
- Scan the QR code on a wallet card or lockscreen (same destination)

What you’ll see
The Emergency Card shows the person’s name and agent contact info. To view the full Directive (blood choices, special instructions), you’ll need the passcode.
