What is a Directive Short Code?

For anyone who received a short code

A short code is a unique 6-character code (like ABC-2D4) that identifies a specific medical directive on bloodless.org. Someone may share their short code with you verbally, on a bracelet, or in writing.

How to use it

  1. Go to bloodless.org/d
  2. Enter the short code in the input field
  3. Tap Go to open the Emergency Card

When it’s useful

  • Tell someone your code verbally over the phone
  • Write it on a medical ID bracelet or card
  • Include it in hospital paperwork
  • A first responder can enter it on their phone

Other ways to access a directive

  • Scan the QR code on a wallet card or lockscreen (same destination)
  • Use the direct link: bloodless.org/d/CODE

What you’ll see

The Emergency Card shows the person’s name and agent contact info. To view the full Directive (blood choices, special instructions), you’ll need the passcode.
